Aluf Yitzhak "Jerry" Gershon (born 1958) is a retired general in the Israel Defense Forces. His last position was that of head of the Israeli Home Front Command. Gershon received a B.A. in public relations and international relations from the University of Haifa. In 1976 he entered the IDF and trained as a paratrooper. He continued to advance through the ranks, becoming the commander of the Paratroopers Brigade, several Israeli divisions, and finally commander of the Home Front Command. In December 2007 Gershon was replaced by Yair Golan, without being given another senior position. This was attributed to the widespread criticisms of gross ineffectiveness displayed by the Home Front Command during the Second Lebanon War. He retired from the service later that month.
